Vida Comfortable, now third generation was established in Encinitas California the summer of 1962 by Carlo Cons a "Artist Craftsman" from the old country "Florence Italy". European Arts and Crafts ideas stemmed in part from a reaction against industrialization and the negative impact it was having on the quality of consumer goods. American adopters of Arts and Crafts style, though, were additionally motivated to create wares that were both stylish yet utilitarian and well-made to elevate the modest lifestyles of the middle class To that end, it would seem that American Arts and Crafts designs further tempered some of the more extravagant additions seen in some designs from the European branch. It is perhaps for this reason that some of the most enduring impacts of Arts and Crafts design in the United States.
